Pat Buchanan Lets Loose

Jul 15th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Pat Buchanan is once again shooting his mouth off about Israel.  From Holocaust revisionism to describing AIPAC as “Israel’s Fifth Column” here in America, Mr. Buchanan is revealing himself for the anti-Semite he is–exactly the sort of hate-monger William F. Buckley tried to rid the Conservatives of years ago.

Here’s a tidbit from his Townhall column:

The front men for 362 are liberal Gary Ackerman of New York and conservative Mike Pence of Indiana. But the juice behind them is that of the Israeli lobby AIPAC, which is marching in step with Israel.

Last week, Mossad’s chief, Meir Dagan, was here to make the case for war on Iran. This week, Defense Minister Ehud Barak visits Dick Cheney and maybe Bush. Next week, it is the head of Israel’s armed forces.

Israel and its Fifth Column in this city seek to stampede us into war with Iran. Bush should rebuff them, and the American people should tell their congressmen: You vote for 362, we don’t vote for you.

Okay Pat.  Take your tinfoil hat off.  Iran is as much a threat to US interests as Israeli–perhaps not quite so visceral a threat, but still, our interests in the region are very real.  We don’t need Israel to tell us that…

  1. Wheres the antisemetic remarks? Are our politicians not pushing our country to war with Iran while our economy tanks? The antisemitism charge doesnt work. AIPAC is leading the charge to war and miraculously, the politicians they own in Washington are in full agreement to go to war. Forget about the economy disintegrating…Israel is much more important..

  2. How about this one:

In a 1977 column, Buchanan said that despite Hitler’s anti-Semitic and
genocidal tendencies, he was “an individual of great courage…Hitler’s
success was not based on his extraordinary gifts alone. His genius was an
intuitive sense of the mushiness, the character flaws, the weakness
masquerading as morality that was in the hearts of the statesmen who stood
in his path.” (The Guardian, 1/14/92)

  3. Pat Buchanan always offer an interesting perspective. ‘Anti-Semetic? Perhaps, depending on how you define the slander. He certainly seems suspicious of Zionism. If that disqualifies his thinking, I expect it does mine too.

  4. This is not an isolated incident. Buchanan has gone far beyond “interesting perspective.” You (and he) are entitled to your views, of course, as I am to mine. Personally, I don’t think the Conservative movement really needs people like Buchanan or David Duke in it. They can be relegated to the fringes with good riddance…

  5. Y’all need to install a muzzle on Pat Buchanan and keep him on a very short list. This guy has gone off the deep end and needs a psych eval in the worst way. Glorifying Hitler and condemning Israel as a nation are just the overt indications he’s mentally unstable.

  6. A muzzle isn’t a bad idea. I’m hoping he just keeps coming out with this crazy bullshit and eventually the MSM will catch on, people will catch on, and the Conservatives he once called friends and allies will denounce him or distance themselves from him. He can go make movies with Mel Gibson…
