Harry’s Place, a UK blog dedicated to promoting the ideals of freedom and democracy, is being sued by Mohammed Sawalha, the President of the British Muslim Initiative, which has been linked to Hamas and the Islamic Brotherhood, both terrorist organizations. The blog reports that Mr. Sawalha, according to the BBC…

“master minded much of Hamas’ political and military strategy” and in London “is alleged to have directed funds, both for Hamas’ armed wing, and for spreading its missionary dawah”.

In their revelation of the impending lawsuit against them leveled by Mohammed Sawalha, they write:

Mr Sawalha claims that we have “chosen a malevolent interpretation of a meaningless word”. In fact, we did no more than translate a phrase which appeared in an Al Jazeera report of Mr Sawalha’s speech. When Al Jazeera changed that phrase from “Evil Jew” to “Jewish Lobby”, we reported that fact, along with the statement that it had been a typographical error.

Mr Sawalha has been the prime mover in a number of Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood associated projects. He is President of the British Muslim Initiative. He is the past President of the Muslim Association of Britain. He was the founder of IslamExpo, and is registered as the holder of the IslamExpo domain name. He is also a trustee of the Finsbury Park Mosque….

…Mr Sawalha says that the attribution of the phrase “Evil Jew” to him implies that he is “anti-semitic and hateful”. Notably, he does not take issue with our reporting of the revelation, made in a Panorama documentary in 2006, that he is a senior activist in the clerical fascist terrorist organisation, Hamas.

It looks like Harry’s Place is going up against some pretty top-notch lawyers on this one, and they’ve got guts, but as the post goes on to say:

If Mr Sawalha persists in attempting to silence us with this desperate legal suit, we will need your help.

We won’t be able to stand up to them alone.

This is why we’ve started this blogburst, to get the word out that we won’t let members of Hamas or any radical terrorist group censor us or any of our fellow bloggers.

If you’d like to add your site to the blogroll, simply email us at admin @ neoconstant . com, and include your site’s URL.

Then copy and paste this (or write your own) entry into one of your posts. Future posts will be emailed to you. Thanks, and don’t forget to head over to Harry’s Place to show your support of their freedom of speech!

Muslims can earn goodwill by helping to stop the crescent plot

Jul 10th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Blogburst logo, August 2nd

Al Qaeda’s 9/11 sneak attack cast suspicion on all Muslims. After the hijackers hid amongst us, pretending to be trustworthy friends while plotting acts of war, how can we know that other Muslims are not doing the same?

American Muslims could undo much of this suspicion by helping to expose the terrorist memorial mosque that architect Paul Murdoch is trying to plant on the Flight 93 crash site

Non-Muslim Americans can tell themselves that the Mecca orientation of the giant crescent is esoteric or unimportant (even if they go by semi-Islamic sounding names like Allahpundit), but every Muslim will instantly recognize this orientation as the central symbol of Islam.

Other Americans can also get confused about the direction to Mecca, thinking that the northeast facing crescent memorial CAN’T point to Mecca because Mecca is south of us. Not American Muslims, who all know that the shortest-distance direction to Mecca is to the northeast, since the overwhelming majority of them face this direction for prayer:

SmallMeccaOrientation

A person facing into the Crescent of Embrace (which remains completely intact in the “broken circle” redesign) will be facing almost exactly at Mecca (the Muslim “qibla,” or prayer direction.)

First they came for the Communists

Jul 9th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

Iran Wielding ‘Soft Power’ Against America

Jul 8th, 2008 | By Guest Authors | Category: Foreign Affairs, Sententia

by Lee Smith

[this article originally published at Pajamas Media]

“If each Muslim throws a bucket of water on Israel,” said the late Ayatollah Khomeini, “Israel will be erased.” This immortal sentiment, and surreal image, captures the essence of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s public diplomacy campaign these last four years, one of the most effective uses of “soft power” in recent memory.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s threats to destroy Israel have so captured the hearts and minds of the Arab masses that they are too distracted to understand that the Persians are primarily coming after them. And the princes and presidents-for-life who rule the Arabs dare not speak the truth since they have promised for sixty years now to rectify the historical error that led to the establishment of the Zionist entity. With the reflexive Arab humiliation at the failure to annihilate a UN member state, the Khomeinists offer at least hope: if you can’t throw Israel into the sea, then take the sea to Israel — and bring your bucket.

So, while Ahmadinejad — the regime’s dark sorcerer, carny barker, and bearded lady rolled into one — has talked of making Israel disappear, he has effectively dropped his cloak over the rest of the Middle East to hide it from view. Even Washington doesn’t seem to have noticed that Iran has pulled a three-card monte trick with a vital American interest — the Persian Gulf.

To be sure, Ahmadinejad is a messianic obscurantist whose vicious threats should not be taken lightly. But Israel is not the main issue here, nor for that matter is the regime’s nascent nuclear program. For these are merely aspects, albeit important ones, of Iran’s project for the entire Middle East, a revolutionary putsch against the established order. And since Washington for over half a century has underwritten that order, from the eastern Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf, which Martin Kramer has called an “[1] American lake,” the Iranian project by definition means to drive the U.S. from the region. And that’s the main event: not Israel, which has a nuclear deterrent, but the Gulf Arabs, who don’t, and their oil, a vital American interest.

Just as it would be ignoble for the world’s superpower to [2] assign an attack on Iran’s nuclear program to the Israelis, neither should Washington leave it up to Israel to counter Ahmadinejad’s rhetorical onslaught. It is the prerogative of a superpower to formulate strategy, tasks that Washington has so far botched. Consider Annapolis, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s redundant effort to convince the Arabs and Israelis of the obvious — that they have a common foe in Iran — and then reward Arab inaction by demanding concessions from Israel on the peace process.

Around the Web on July 3rd

Jul 3rd, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Some of the best news this past week came out of Colombia, where Government agents posing as rebels tricked actual rebels into freeing 15 hostages, including Ingrid Betancourt, three American contractors and 11 Colombian police and military personnel.  This really was some amazing work on the part of the Colombian military:

The agents gained the rebels’ trust and rose to the top of FARC’s leadership council as well as a team assigned to guard the hostages.

When the time was ripe, the moles used the authority they’d gained within the group to order the 15 hostages moved from three separate locations to one central area, and the game was on.

Incredibly, the entire mission was carried out without a shot fired.  The agents led their rebel counterparts to believe the helicopter coming to rescue the hostages was an “international mission” like the Red Cross.  They loaded up the hostages, convinced the other rebels to lay down their arms, and then arrested the men and got the hostages out.  Fact is, you don’t hear many stories like this, that end so well.

In other news, an Arab Israeli ran a front end loader into a bus in Jerusalem killing several people and wounding many more.  His family has said he was not involved in politics, and that the apparent terrorist attack was actually just a guy who lost his cool.  It looks as though, perhaps, he was involved in criminal rather than political disputes.

False Claims Against Israel

Jun 30th, 2008 | By Andrew L. Jaffee | Category: Sententia

This taken from comments by thedoctori on Newsvine:

False Claims

False claim: Israel was stolen from the Arabs to begin with….and they are still stealing more and more everyday.

The usual propaganda–read this for a reality check:

False claim: Did you know that Arabs are not allowed to go into some of the Jewish settlements (stolen land)…even though they are in their OWN state?

Palestinians can thank their leaders for that. Many average people used to work in Israel. Israelis got sick of terrorists slipping in under the guise of being workers:

The number of Palestinians who worked daily in Israel before the intifada was more than 150,000; the figure now is fewer than 35,000.

False claim: Did you know that Jerusalem is supposed to be the capital of Palestine (NOT Israel)…but is currently being annexed (illegally)?

Huh? Oslo, agreed to by the PLO, put the status of Jerusalem up for negotiations (e.g., a shared capital). So does the Roadmap. King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel in 1004 BCE. Jews have lived there continuously much longer than Arabs. There are mountains of Jewish archeology in Jerusalem predating the Al-Aqsa Mosque. See “First Temple seal found in Jerusalem.” See “Archeologists find 2nd Temple quarry.”

False claim: Do you know that Israel uses illegal weapons on Palestinian CIVILIANS, many of whom are women and children?

“Almost 1,000 rockets and over 1,000 mortar bombs fired from the Gaza Strip have struck southern Israel since the beginning of the year (Jan-May 2008).” Palestinians are targeting Israeli civilians.

“About 400 Israeli families lost loved ones in a decade of Hamas suicide bomb attacks?”

Here’s a link to Israeli civilian casualties.

False claim: Did you know that even Palestinian ambulances (while in emergency situations) must still wait at checkpoints?

Yeah, because Palestinian terrorists use ambulances for their operations.

False claim: Do you know Israeli soldiers shoot at PROTESTERS and JOURNALISTS? Frequently killing them?

Palestinian journalists themselves have accused Hamas and Fatah of mistreating them.

Around the Web on June 25th

Jun 25th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Well, as per usual, the internet is buzzing with information, news, a wide variety of topics.  I’ve taken it upon me to find just a few of the most interesting, riveting, and thought-provoking bits.

CNN reported on the arrest of over 500 people allegedly linked to al Qaeda.  Liberals in America will be pleased to hear they won’t be going to Gitmo to suffer the atrocities of the American military prison system, but will instead be comfortably housed in Saudi prisons, where undboubtedly they will be treated with good, old-fashioned Wahhabi hospitality.

In a written statement, the ministry said the cell’s leader was found with a letter from al Qaeda’s second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, “urging him to raise funds and that [al-Zawahiri] will provide him with the personnel, whom they called the mujahedeen.”

The Neo-Centrist Alliance

Jun 20th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Neo-CentristI’ve been thinking about “neo-centrist” politics lately, as the term “neo-conservatism” has been so blackened.  Michael J. Totten sums this concept up very nicely below:

The Neo-Centrist Alliance

This passage from Christopher Hitchens’ new Vanity Fair piece about the intra-Republican civil war really stuck with me. (No link, not online.)

It’s not the only attack from the old right that describes the neocons as Johnny-come-latelies: chancers who had changed their party allegiance just in time to catch the Reagan tide, but who remained liberals and cosmopolitans under the skin. Indeed, William Kristol has proved Buchanan’s point, by telling The New York Times that, if pushed, by which he clearly meant “in any case,” he would prefer an alliance with liberal hawks to one with anti-war Republicans.

Sometimes I wish the neos could form their own party: the neo-liberals and neo-conservatives against the Democrats and the Republicans. Not gonna happen, I know. But that is the “party” I feel like I belong to these days….

Me, too, Mr. Totten.  I think a lot of people do.

Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack

Jun 13th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Tim Russert Dies of a Heart AttackNBC’s Tim Russert died this afternoon of a heart attack.  According to NBC:

Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after a sudden heart attack at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. He and his family had recently returned from Italy, where they celebrated the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.

58 years old is way too young to go like this.  It’s terribly sad.

Ron Paul and the al-Paulista Martyrs Brigade

May 27th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Ron Paul has absolutely no chance in a million years of becoming the next President of the United States of America. None. I site, as my source for this wild claim, the fact that he has not won a single state primary. Add to this the fact that his popularity is more a media infatuation with a certain inexplicable fervor unique to his supporters, and you basically can see how Ron Paul has built his castle out of sand. The realities of politics in America will wash the campaign into the wide oceans of time and memory. (more…)

What it means to say “Holocaust”

May 7th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Meryl Yourish is an endless source of Zionist information, and her blog should be read daily for any of you who may be interested in what’s going on in Israel regarding the Palestinian conflict. Daily. I’m not kidding when I say this, but she manages to pour through so much material, so many news sources, and get to the heart of the issue in such a clear and accessible way, that you really should visit her site on a regular basis just to stay on top of the conflict. And then, there are cats as well. Something she shares in common with our fellow blogger Mr. Edward Beaman.

For this episode of Sententia, I will draw from Yourish’s column with a very illustrative glimpse into the numbers behind the Real Holocaust (as in the Nazi Holocaust) and the Fake Holocaust (as in what the Palestinians and much of the world media are describing Israel’s treatment of the Gazans as….)

This is especially poignant since we are now entering 60th anniversary celebrations over the state of Israel.  Ever defiant, our Israeli friends and allies somehow manage to stave off the forces of darkness and barbarism, and have for six decades against overwhelming odds.

From Meryl Yourish:

Today is the day that Jews all over the world remember the victims of the Holocaust. Even as we do this, the Palestinians and their Arab and Muslim allies once again try to expropriate the language and images of the murder of Jews, and apply it to Palestinians. The word “Holocaust” is being used a lot to describe Gaza. Well, let’s take a look at the difference between the real Holocaust, and the utter misuse of that word to describe Palestinian deaths in a war with Israel.

The real Holocaust deaths (a partial list):

Country Jews Killed % of Country’s Jews Killed
Austria 50,000 36
Belgium 25,000 60
Belorussia 245,000 65
Bohemia/Moravia 80,000 89
Bulgaria 11,400 14
Estonia 1500 35
France 90,000 26
Greece 65,000 80
Hungary 450,000 70
Italy 7500 20
Latvia 70,000 77
Lithuania 220,000 94
Luxembourg 1950 50
The Netherlands 106,000 76
Norway 870 55
Poland 2,900,000 88
Russia 107,000 11
Romania 270,000 33
Slovakia 71,000 80
Ukraine 900,000 60
Yugoslavia 60,000 80

The total number of Palestinians killed in the territories since the start of the second intifada: 4,609.

The Palestinian population today (disputed):

Gaza: 1,482,405
West Bank: 2,611,904

The Palestinian population in 1967:

Gaza:380,800
West Bank: 604,494

Someone else can figure out percentage of population growth and the number of Palestinian deaths. I’m not going to waste the time on an obviously spurious comparison. I’m just going to continue to point out the attempt to expropriate all of the language used to describe the world’s crimes against the Jews by the Palestinians, who would have you believe they are also victims of anti-Semitism. This needs to be stopped.

Never forget. There is no Palestinian “Holocaust.” There was only one Holocaust, that of the Jews by the Nazis, with the willing help of Europeans and Arabs, including the ones who lived in what was then known as Palestine—and whose descendants live in the territories today.

The descendants of the victims of the Holocaust? Well, there are none for the true victims. Only for the survivors.

Am Yisrael Chai. The people of Israel live. Long live the people of Israel.

Thank you, Meryl Yourish, for this little reminder. That’s the thought-provocation for the day….

Obama’s bitter; Craig’s broke; and the Three Stooges

Apr 28th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

The Borowitz Report has revealed a startling new tactic the Obama campaign is taking, reinvigorating itself by shifting the “bitterness” from the voters to the candidate:

“You want to talk bitter?” Obama said to his audience. “How about losing the Pennsylvania primary after you were supposed to have this nomination locked up – that’ll make you bitter, for damn sure.”

Sen. Obama said that after Rev. Wright controversy, the ABC News debate, the flag lapel criticism, and the “red phone” ads, “You can bet your ass I know a thing or two about who’s bitter.”

Ankle Biting Pundits reveal the tab Sen. Larry Craig has been left with over the bathroom fiasco.  The lawyer’s bill is probably even more of a fiasco.

GOP Senator Larry “Wide Stance” Craig has to pay a huge chunk of his $407,000 legal bill resulting from his guilty plea to “Disorderly Conduct” (i.e. trying to get busy with another guy in an airport toilet) out of his own pocket, and not use campaign funds like he tried to do previously.

And this funny image comes direct from Laugh@Liberals:

So lighten up.  Things aren’t always dark and somber and serious.  Just most of the time….

Essential Blogs and Sites

Apr 4th, 2008 | By E.D. Kain | Category: Sententia

Here’s a little list of some of my favorite blogs and web sites at the moment–I’m sure I’ve left some out. Actually, I guarantee that I’ve left some (or many) out, but I only have so much time on my hands….

Bruce Kelly

FireShot capture #12 - 'Conservative Websites, Blogs and News Media - Brucekelly_com' - www_brucekelly_comFor a really good resource on Conservative blogs and Conservative sites, visit BruceKelly.com. From here, you can find all sorts of great sites and resources. Mr. Kelly includes a steady update of recent articles; summaries of various sites; and has recently added a link to his new “Digg-clone” Tastylinks.com which I’ve just registered for, so I can’t give you much feedback on it yet….stop by for yourself. Great name for a site, though–quite frankly, I can’t believe the domain was still available!

Churchill’s Parrot

church Some of the most eloquent conservative writing on the Internet can be found here on NeoConstant–when I syndicate posts from my friend Charlie, Churchill’s Parrot. The Parrot has a way with words and ideas that is quite beyond me. (I blame it on his age–after all, he was in the thick of things with Mr. Churchill, and he’s been defending the honor of Britain and the Anglosphere ever since!) Charlie has started a community of bloggers called the Anglosphere Consortium, of which I am a proud member. The organization also has a forum hosted here on NeoConstant.

Meryl Yourish

FireShot capture #15 - 'Yourish_com' - yourish_comFor those of you who are, like me, Zionists, you may want to check out Meryl Yourish’s blog. She manages to blog faster and more furiously than almost anybody. Her blog is a very good source of information on Israel and the conflict there. I’m not sure how anyone can post so much, but I’m glad she does.

Elder of Ziyon

FireShot capture #16 - 'Elder of Ziyon' - elderofziyon_blogspot_comAlso, head over to the Elder of Ziyon, another excellent Zionist blog with a veritable wealth of information about Israel and the terrorists committed to her destruction. Like any true Zionist blog, this one takes a critical look at the US and how US policy is not always in-line with Israeli interests, so if you happen to be blindly pro-America you may want to stop by and get a broader perspective.

Deeper Look

deep A Deeper Look Weblog is a fantastic blog about the spread of Islamic Radicalism in the west. I never ceased to be amazed with the amount of resources and information that Krishna is able to pull together there and on Newsvine. Very strong writing and commentary on terror and Islamism, and an avid supporter of Israel.

Neo-Neocon

neocon For Neoconservative writing, it’s hard to beat Neo-Neoc on. Each post is well thought out and eloquent to a fault. Neocons get a bad wrap these days, so it’s nice to see others out there with a strong voice, and a sharp intellect. A good deal of Neo-Neocon’s writing revolves around domestic issues, history, and so forth, but the Neoconservative vein is still strong.

…and many more.

Beyond this, I get into too many debates at Newsvine; spend some time over at Digg; and enjoy tech blogs like Engadget when I’m in the mood for something a little less heavy than politics and world affairs. I can’t keep up with too much, so my Gather and Myspace pages are pretty much dormant.

I also blog at Blendwire and the Daily Elephant.
