Movies I've Seen lately that you should see, too...
Hellboy II was fantastic, weird, and creepy.
The Dark Knight was the best Batman ever, and scary to boot.
Wall-E was a great kids movie, and Sci-Fi without much dumbing down for the young ones.
TV-wise check out Penn & Teller’s Bullshit series for some hilarious insight into modern day America. They debunk everything from environtmental hysteria to Wal-mart hatred. Good stuff. They also have a blog, now.
The Tudors is a suprisingly good Showtime show, but the jury is still out on this one, as it could move in any direction at this point.
Wish HBO’s Rome had more than two seasons. It’s worth watching the lonely two they made, however.
Waiting eagerly for the new HBO Song of Ice and Fire series based off of George R.R. Martin’s phenomenal fantasy series.
Very disappointed with Season 3 of Weeds. It’s gotten so dramatic. Isn’t it supposed to be funny once and a while?
I rent all my television shows through Netflix, though I catch some South Park online as it is widely available for free. No new episodes on that front in a good long while, however. (0)
Regarding Lightbulbs and Missile Defense
Mark Steyn, several days ago, wrote an excellent piece which is published at his blog. Go read it.
So what’s Putin’s game? Well, he leads a country with severe structural defects (a collapsed birth rate for everyone except Russia’s Muslims, a depopulating east, disease-ridden menfolk face down in the vodka) but a relatively buoyant economy — or, to be more precise, kleptocracy. In particular, Western Europe is increasingly dependent on Russia as an energy supplier. Putin calculates that even a weak Kremlin can make mischief for America.(0)
Obama should ask Abbas...
This question, from Commentary magazine.
But I bet he won’t. If I saw Abbas I don’t think I could even look at the coward. (0)
Long War Journal Update
US returns fire on Taliban inside Pakistan
The situation on Afghan-Pakistani border has heated up as US forces attacked a Taliban position inside Pakistan. Meanwhile, reports from North Waziristan indicate US forces are massing across the border in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Khost, sparking fears of a US ground incursion into Pakistan’s tribal areas.
